We got to do some work with the dog the other day. It’s really great to have a guided missile that bites.
I hate to turn into the electro-harmonix poster boy, but my equipment guru at Strait South turned me on to the Holy Grail reverb.
Holy Grail reverb mini review: Get it, get it now.
So I’m minding my own business, hacking some Perl on a lazy Sunday afternoon and and my lovely wife walks in and asks: “What are you doing?” It was at that moment I had to come to grips with the fact that what I was doing was writing a program to play a game. Not only did I have to admit to myself that this was what I was doing, I had to consider the implications of it. I had to admit to myself that I had gone above and beyond mere laziness and entered a whole new realm. It was, needless to say a sobering experience. I had to dig deep within myself to muster my reply: “Aw, nothin’.”
Monroe stopped by yesterday and we did a little recording. We apparently have some latency issues with the equipment that we need to work out, but it was a good excercise. Just one take per track and the exacting production standards are evidenced by the 10 seconds of virtual tape hiss at the beginning, but I’m posting it on the Music page because I want T.F. Miles to see that we need a drummer. Also a personal note to Malford Milligan: We don’t work cheap, but we’re dependable.
Update: fixed bad links. (Thanks [Cadet])

Did you know that You’re not allowed to link to NPR without permission? Strange and fascinating! I know I’m treading on the edge here talking about something that borders on being real news, but would you think that of all the people that could pull such a wild stunt it would be National Public Radio?
congratulations! Oscar and Robin concatenated in a lovely ceremony this weekend. If anyone has the pictures send ’em to me.
You may know that due to company policy regarding vacation hoarding, I’ve been forced to take a little time off. Well, I’ve quit shaving and given up all aspects of personal hygiene because I’m working full time on my project to start a cult based on google sets. It’s my feeling that the answers to all of life’s questions can be found through the clever contruction of these sets.
I’m posting this live feed from my cult compound webcam so that my friends will know that I’m alright.
Of all the things in the world, Monroe and I played a holy-roller church last night. It was a fun crowd and we got to play some songs we’d never heard before. Being from the “quiet reverence” school of worship myself, I was a little taken aback a few times, but before I could think of what John Calvin would say Monroe would play something even tastier and force me to concentrate on the music. Also mad props to all the other musicians/singers from “Ambassadors for Christ”. They made me as comfortable as a Presbyterian in a Charismatic church is likely to be. I’m trying to get my son to marry Amaris, this family needs a drummer!
On a unrelated note I have some pictures from the party up. Thanks Aunt Sheila! I’m using PGTK to organize/present the pictures. It’s not very featureful (is that a real word?), but it’s clean and commented. I notice an issue wherein not all the thumbnails are likely to load on the first loading, YMMV.
